To become registered:
You must provide or arrange to have provided the following documents:
- Two Character Declarations (see this section) signed and dated by someone who is not related to you.
- Completed, signed and dated Application Form. You must have worked and verified by your previous employer 1,500 practice hours of work in the previous four years. Students just graduating from approved Respiratory Therapy programs will have successful completion of their clinical competencies recognised as equivalent to the 1,500 hours.
- A copy of your Respiratory Therapy program (school) diploma or certified true transcript.
- A copy of your Certificate of Registration (CSRT or NBRC RRT certificate).
- Payment by cheque or personal money order in Canadian Funds ($425 for currently registered therapists in an originating jurisdiction plus a $50 application fee, $225 for recent student graduates plus a $50 application fee).
- Application fees are non-refundable.
Upon receipt of all documentation and no referrals to the registration committee, processing applications for registration should take one business day.
Please note that as of June 1st, 2001 programs accredited by the Canadian Medical Association and Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists, Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education in Canada or the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care in the United States of America fulfill the approved programs of study requirement of the Respiratory Therapists Regulation. Approved examinations for application of the Respiratory Therapists Regulation are prescribed by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC) in Canada and the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) in the United States of America.
